Dead in lead. Two dead men in lead masks, new suits and raincoats to be exact.
This bizarre true story is considered by many to be one of the great unsolved mysteries of modern time.[pullquote align=right]
“Meet at the designated spot at 16:30. At 18:30 ingest the capsules. After the effect, protect the face with lead masks. Wait for the prearranged signal.”

On August 20, 1966, a boy hunting birds on Vintém Hill, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) discovered two partially putrefied corpses.
The bodies were of two electrical engineers. They were wearing pristine business suits, lead masks (the type typically used to protect against radiation) and waterproof coats. There was no sign of any violence.
Next to the bodies, was found an empty bottle of water, two towels and a small notebook. The notebook contained the following words, written by one of the dead men (translated into English):
“Meet at the designated spot at 16:30. At 18:30 ingest the capsules. After the effect, protect the face with lead masks. Wait for the prearranged signal.”
Later examination of the bodies failed to determine their cause of death. Although no toxicology tests were performed, the official explanation was: Cause of death unknown.
One last point of interest: There were numerous independent reports of strange lights being seen over the hill at the approximate time the two men died.
Cue Twilight Zone theme music now.
Well I don’t really know what to make of that. Interesting.
